Version 2020.10 adds a large number of words with no entry in DDB but for which external references are available. This feature shows in DDB Web server as:
"No headword matches for [xyz]. You may wish consult the following external source(s)".
It shows in the same way in DDB Access.

Character etymology from Wieger and Kanji Networks (cont'd):
- Kanji Networks identifies semantic and phono-semantic components from an old Chinese perspective.
- Wieger: based on the Shuowen jiezi, with etymological lessons and phonetic series. This release includes the full text (French) for the first 12 Wieger lessons.
- The application offers easy navigation between various lessons and series, for the best possible global view.

1) Besides recognizing the correspondence between simplified and traditional variants, this version also recognizes multiple traditional variants.
For instance, searching/parsing 真 will show both 真 and 眞, according to what is present in selected dictionaries. Or it will recognize equally well 為/爲 or 眾/衆.

2) For scholars working on Buddhist texts that contain literary or historical terminology, the application now includes general purpose dictionaries: CEDICT (Chinese-English), CFDict (Chinese-French) and HanDeDict(Chinese-German).
They are not active by default. Use "Select" (in dictionary combo) or the "Options" button to activate them.
